WHO WE ARE
The United Community Initiative (UCI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering immigrant and refugee youth and families through education, youth development, life skills training, and humanitarian programs. We work to remove barriers, strengthen communities, and create opportunities that help individuals build confidence, stability, and long-term success. Through community-based programs in the United States and Africa, UCI supports young people and families as they navigate education, cultural adjustment, and personal growth, laying a strong foundation for a brighter and more sustainable future.
Our Mission
To empower immigrant and refugee youth and families by providing education, youth development, community support, and humanitarian programs that promote stability, opportunity, and stronger futures in the United States and Africa.
What We Do
United Community Initiative (UCI) delivers community-based programs designed to support immigrant and refugee youth and families as they build stable, successful lives. Our work focuses on the following areas:
Education & Life Skills We support learning and personal development by guiding English language learning, cultural orientation, academic support, and essential life skills. These programs help individuals understand educational systems, workplace expectations, and everyday life in the United States.
Youth Development & Talent Empowerment UCI creates safe and positive spaces for youth to develop their talents and leadership skills through sports, music, arts, mentorship, and community engagement. We encourage confidence, discipline, teamwork, and positive self-expression.
Community Support & Guidance We assist families in navigating social systems by offering mentorship, counseling, and community education on topics such as employment readiness, housing awareness, legal responsibilities, and healthy lifestyle choices.
Humanitarian & International Outreach UCI supports humanitarian initiatives in Africa, particularly in underserved and refugee-affected communities. Our programs focus on youth empowerment, education support, community development, and sustainable initiatives that improve quality of life.
Through these efforts, UCI works to reduce barriers, strengthen families, and promote long-term opportunity and dignity for the communities we serve.
